Marine Infrastructure Strategy
Project: developing a new strategy to provide future direction for improvements, renewals and maintenance of Eurobodalla’s marine facilities.
Status: Preparing
Page last updated: May 2024
Details
We are working to:
- prepare a strategy that identifies and prioritises marine infrastructure projects for the next 10 years.
Benefits to the community:
- marine facilities will be built and maintained to cater for ongoing demand.
- a formal strategy will provide crucial support for grant funding applications.
We know boating and fishing activities are important to locals and visitors so we want to ensure our facilities are ship-shape and cater for the inevitable increase in demand.
We are drawing on the knowledge and experience of our waterway users to help us develop a plan that truly reflects the needs of our community in an affordable way.

Project updates
May 2024
- Our asset management team has been working on priority projects since the natural disasters, deferring preparation of the marine infrastructure strategy.
- We know this is an important project, but it will take time and resources to develop. Once we get the strategy underway, we will place a draft document on public exhibition for community feedback.
January 2021
- Our asset management staff have been flat out during the bushfire emergency. Once we've caught up, we'll get back on track with plans for our marine infrastructure.
December 2019
- We are collating all the survey data and making a start on the draft Marine Infrastructure Strategy.
- Once prepared, we will place the draft on public exhibition and invite community members to comment.
October 2019
- We have received some great feedback from boaters and fishers providing us with plenty of ideas to consider for the new strategy.
- The survey closed on Monday 21 October and now it's time to compile the data.
September 2019
- Our survey was open from Friday 20 September until Monday 21 October, online and with hard copies available from Eurobodalla libraries.
August 2019
- We are preparing an online survey which will be open to the whole community to give us their ideas. We aim to make it available in time for the upcoming school holidays so locals and visitors can get involved.
July 2019
- We are preparing a survey to obtain community feedback on what improvements are needed at boating and fishing facilities in Eurobodalla.
- The survey will be available to all residents, visitors and other stakeholders for a four-week period coming up soon.
April 2019
- We approached locals and visitors to complete a quick questionnaire at five popular boat ramps on Easter Saturday.
- We wanted to catch people using the facilities during the peak period.
- We asked boaties to score their satisfaction levels for the facilities and to identify any areas needing improvement.
- People were happy to participate and we received some useful feedback.
- The questionnaire will help us create a more extensive survey, open to the whole community later in the year.
2018-2019
- During 2018 and 2019 we visited various boat ramps during peak, shoulder and off-peak periods to gain an overall view of boat ramp usage throughout the year.
- The survey counted boat launches, smaller craft use and parking availability.
