Opening hours and fees

Waste facilities' holiday hours: December 2024

Council's waste facilities will close early on Christmas Eve, 24 December 2024 at 12pm. We're also closed on Christmas Day and New Years Day. Our normal operating hours will apply outside of these days.

Council operates two waste management facilities at Surf Beach and Brou, and a transfer station at Moruya.

  • All three facilities accept solid waste.
  • Fees apply at all sites. Many recyclable items are accepted for free.
  • Limits apply at Moruya Transfer Station.

Surf Beach waste management facility

Surf Beach waste management facility

Where: 311 George Bass Drive at the roundabout at the Surf Beach bypass.

  • Saturday, Sunday and public holidays: 8am to 3.45pm
  • Closed: Christmas Day, New Years Day, Good Friday and Easter Sunday

Surf Beach Community Recycling Centre

Where: Onsite at the Surf Beach Waste Management Facility.

Operating hours for the Community Recycling Centre are:

  • Monday to Friday: 7am to 4.45pm
  • Saturday, Sunday and public holidays: 8am to 3.45pm
  • Closed: Christmas Day, New Years Day, Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

You can drop-off your household problem wastes (household quantities - 20kg or 20L only) for free at our community recycling centre.

We will accept:

  • paint
  • gas bottles
  • fire extinguishers
  • fluoro globes and tubes
  • household batteries and car batteries
  • smoke detectors
  • motor oils and other oils.

Buy Back Centre

Where: Located at the Surf Beach Waste Management Facility.

Opening hours:

  • Thursday to Monday 8.30am to 12pm
  • Closed: public holidays

Acceptance of recycling, recoverable, operational, and waste material is at the discretion of the weighbridge operator.
