Closing date for submissions: Friday 30 May 2025, 4.30pm

The draft Batemans Bay Masterplan (the masterplan) sets a long-term vision for our town's future and aims to create a vibrant, sustainable, and resilient community. It supports housing diversity, improved infrastructure, economic development, community wellbeing, and climate resilience.

Batemans Bay is a growing regional centre that sits on the beautiful Clyde River and features a stunning coastal landscape, open spaces, and walkable neighbourhoods. The masterplan is designed to guide future public and private development in a way that celebrates these natural assets. It also prepares for a projected population of up to 40,000 residents by 2100.

The draft masterplan was presented at the 25 March 2025 Council meeting, where Council endorsed it for public exhibition. This follows two years of background studies, community engagement, and collaboration with technical experts. The draft masterplan:

  • outlines a vision and guiding principles for Batemans Bay
  • recommends directions for height, density, infrastructure, movement, and character
  • identifies key sites for change, growth, and protection
  • builds on previous engagement and planning work
  • supports actions that will help the town respond to climate change, and provide more housing and employment opportunities.

Council is seeking feedback from the community on the draft masterplan. Your views will help shape the final plan and ensure it reflects the community’s aspirations for the town’s future.

Next steps

At the end of the exhibition period, we'll review and consider all community feedback before we present a final version of the masterplan to Council in late 2025.
