Jarrah Knowles Parsons made the following comments in the Public Access Session at the Ordinary Council Meeting on 14 April 2015.

Hello my name is Jarrah Knowles Parsons and I live in Majors Creek with my family.

I am not sure how many of you have been there before.

It is a little village named after the creek that runs right through it.

A creek that was once full of miners who turned every inch of it upside down to search for gold.

Now they are back to search underground.

This could be just the tip of the iceberg. This could become so much bigger than they are suggesting now because they might just keep on finding more and more gold nearby.

If we allow them to go ahead with their plan to build a cyanide processing plant we will have to go to sleep at night to the sound of machinery crushing rock.

We will have to drink water that has been contaminated by pollution from the mine.

But my biggest fear is for all of the animals that will die if the cyanide ever reaches the creeks and then the river that arrives here in Moruya.

We decided to make this film because we wanted to show people how worried we were about this happening at the mine near our home and what could happen to the animals if there was a cyanide spill.

Eurobodalla Shire Council shares your concerns and with the assistance of an expert consultant, we will review the full details of the proposed modification when the environmental assessment is released.

We intend to lodge a submission during the development application’s exhibition period raising any concerns identified during the review.
