Primi Thompson - 10 May 2016
Primi Thompson made comments regarding Melaleuca reserve at the Ordinary Council Meeting 10 May 2016.
Council's Reply
Melaleuca Reserve is being considered for the site of the proposed educational therapy centre to be developed by Muddy Puddles. The reserve is classified as community land, however the current categorisation does not permit the proposed lease to Muddy Puddles.
Council is considering the re-categorisation of the reserve from “park” to “general community use” to facilitate the proposal. In accordance with the provisions of the Local Government Act 1993, Council has placed the proposal on public exhibition, held a public hearing on 27 April 2016 in Moruya, and another public hearing on 18 May 2016 in Batemans Bay, both chaired by an independent person who will prepare a report for Council. Submissions from the public will be received up until 25 May 2016 after which time Council will consider the independent chair’s report and all submissions made by the public before making a decision on the proposed categorisation.
