Barbara Roberts - 22 May 2018
Barbara Roberts made the below comments at the Ordinary Council Meeting 22 May 2018.
Presentation to the Public Access Forum, Eurobodalla Shire Council
Tuesday 22nd May 2018
Good morning Councillors, my name is Barbara Roberts, I am representing The Coastwatchers Association Inc.
Members of our organisation, residents and landholders are grappling with the large, complex document of more than 650 pages, in 3 volumes - the Rural Land Strategy Planning Proposal, which has significant changes to the Euroboda11a LEP 2012. In addition there are about 1.000 pages of supporting documents to consider when understanding this proposal. This strategy is currently on Public Exhibition from 9th May to 8th June 2018 a very short time frame.
The Rural Land Strategy Planning Proposal is not easy to navigate especially on the internet, as I am sure you have all experienced, and requires ample time to fully understand the changes proposed.
I am requesting today that Councillors consider, and grant an extension of time for the public exhibition period of the Rural Land Strategy, which has been in preparation for several years and requires more time to be considered by the residents and landholders of Eurobodalla.
The Council recently granted an extension of time for the Public Exhibition of the Recreation and Open Space report, which was greatly appreciated by the community, enabling people to give a more considered response to that report.
I therefore ask that my request for an extension of time for the public exhibition period of the Rural Land Strategy, be agreed to.
Thank you for your time this morning.
Barbara Roberts
