Community information sessions for Mackay Park concepts

Media release: 17 August 2017

Eurobodalla residents can attend an information session on Monday to hear from consultants Otium about the preliminary concept plans for the aquatic, arts and cultural components of the Batemans Bay Mackay Park redevelopment.

Mayor Liz Innes will host the information sessions; one during the day and another in the evening to allow as many people as possible the opportunity to attend.

At both sessions, Otium’s David Mason will outline the concept plans and business case and explain the recommendation that will be made to Council for the redevelopment of the site.

The recommendation is not a final plan, but a preliminary concept that will allow Council to apply for significant grant funds currently on offer from the NSW Government for projects like Mackay Park.

Sessions will be held at Hanging Rock Function Centre (Beach Road, Batemans Bay) at 2.30pm to 4pm, and at 6pm to 7.30pm.

There will be time for questions and answers after each presentation.

The community-based sunset committee comprising swimming, arts and business representatives was briefed on the preliminary plan last week, and a separate information session will be held on Monday morning specifically for the members of the groups they represent.

An extraordinary Council meeting will be held on Tuesday 29 August to decide on the concept for inclusion in Council’s applications for grant funding under the NSW Government’s Regional Cultural Fund, due by 4 September.

Otium’s preliminary concepts for an aquatic and arts and cultural facility demonstrate how the two community facilities could co-locate on the Crown Land at the southern end of the precinct, leaving the Council-owned freehold land to the north unencumbered and available for future development opportunities.
