Author Sandie Docker shares heart and humour

Published: 26 June 2024

Bestselling author Sandie Docker is coming to Batemans Bay Library to chat about her just-released novel The Lyrebird Lake Ladies Choir, already garnering rave reviews.

Her sixth book, Lyrebird Ladies follows three women confronting some very real issues of contemporary Australia – from homelessness to the unhealed scarring of historical forced adoption.

“A choir wasn’t about a single voice,” Sandie says, “It was about blending; complementing each other. It was about … belonging”. Set between 1973 and today, this is a moving story about discovering one’s own voice and coming together to be stronger than the sum of individuals.

From her 2018 debut novel The Kookaburra Creek Café to her acclaimed The Wattle Island Book Club, Sandie’s stories are feel-good and fun while deftly addressing issues faced by modern women. Join her for a stimulating ‘in conversation’ discussion and audience Q&A on Friday 12 July, 11am-12pm. Booking essential through Eurobodalla Libraries’ events or by contacting Batemans Bay Library on 4472 5850.

In the spirit of choral creativity, attendees will also be treated to a performance by local U3A Singers. Refreshments provided and books signed by the author available for purchase.
