It's baby bat season! What to do if one needs help

Flying-foxes have arrived! It's baby bat season and pups are present in flying-fox camps right now. If you come across a baby bat that needs your help, please call WIRES on 1300 094 737 (13000 WIRES).

They’ve had multiple call outs after mums have been zapped on powerlines, or to rescue pups who’ve fallen on the ground. If you find one orphaned, sick, injured, or dead … please don’t handle it, leave to experts! These flying friends are a protected species that help pollinate our valuable bushland.
