Record art-prize entries, four locals make cut

Eurobodalla Council’s coordinator of creative arts development Indi Carmichael says art enthusiasts will not want to miss the Basil Sellers Art Prize winner’s announcement this Friday.
“We’ve been engulfed by entries from across Australia and the selection panel has been making tough choices while whittling down this year’s 485 entries,” Ms Carmichael says.
The 29 finalists are now hung in the Basil Sellers Exhibition Centre ready for judging by Art Gallery of NSW senior curator of Australian Art Denise Mimmocchi.
“It’s a wonderful result for the Bas team who have been working hard to make this an artist-friendly and industry-leading exhibition. I’m so very pleased to see four local artists make the cut. They are Grace Paleg, Natalie Bateman, Mark Ward and Raewyn Lawrence,” says Ms Carmichael.
“For those that can’t make opening night, we’ll livestream the event on our Instagram page. The exhibition continues until Saturday 1 February.
The Basil Sellers Exhibition Centre is open Monday to Saturday, 10am to 4pm during exhibitions.
