Let the battle begin! Eurobodalla bands line up
Published: 4 April 2025
Looking for something fun to do? Currents Battle of the Bands is on Saturday 12 April from 4pm-9pm at the Moruya RSL Hall.
This year’s lineup is epic, with a mix of returning acts and some new ones on the scene, says Eurobodalla Council’s youth officer Michael Lawrence-Taylor.
“We can’t wait to see them give it their all on stage,” Michael said.
“Bands from Moruya High have won the battle the past two years - could 2025 be the year someone else steals the crown?”
Selected bands for this year are:
- Dizzy – Batemans Bay and Moruya high schools.
- No Mans Land – Batemans Bay High School
- Train St – St Peter’s Anglican College
- Polaroid Band – Carroll College and Moruya high schools
- Seajays – St Peter’s Anglican College
- Lennox – Moruya High School
Michael was blown away by the event’s history saying it has been running for almost 20 years.
“The event has been running since 2007! Back then I believe it was called Amplify and I would love to know where some of the bands are at now and their success stories,” he said.
Michael said winners over the years were awarded prizes like professional recording sessions and opportunities to headline local gigs.
“It’s such an awesome event that gives young musicians a chance to step into the spotlight, build confidence and get noticed – opening doors to exciting opportunities,” Michael said.
“But what they need is a big crowd to support them! So, if you’re school-aged and looking for a fun night out, rally your mates and get yourselves some free tickets.
“With all young people in the crowd, it’s like they’re performing in front of their mates. It’s fun for both the performers and the crowd.”
On the night there will also be free pizza, giveaways and a chill-out area. Tickets available through Eventbrite.
