Drinking water

Council ensures that Eurobodalla’s drinking water is safe, clean, and reliable for around 40,912 residents every day. We regularly test and monitor the water to make sure it meets the highest safety standards for the best drinking water quality.

Under the Public Health Act 2010 and the Public Health Regulation 2022, all drinking water suppliers must have a water quality assurance program. We follow these requirements to check the quality of our drinking water. Here's what we do as part of this program:

  • Test the water: We check the water for harmful bacteria, chemicals, and other substances to make sure it's safe to drink.
  • Monitor the water: We take part in NSW Health's drinking water monitoring program to track water quality.
  • Follow the guidelines: We implement our water quality management system based on the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines 2011 (the guidelines). These guidelines define what makes water safe and clean, and help us meet the highest standards.
  • Independent testing: We send water samples to independent laboratories, certified by NATA (National Association of Testing Authorities), for further testing.

Annual drinking water monitoring reports

Council reports our water testing results to the NSW Drinking Water Database. You can view the details in our annual reports. These reports include information on water quality, and the tests we carry out:

Drinking Water Quality Policy

To ensure Council always provide safe, high-quality drinking water, we have developed a Drinking Water Quality Policy. This policy outlines how we manage our water supply to meet the guidelines and maintain water safety.
