New 30 km/h speed zones were set along sections of Church and Queen streets to improve safety for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists in the town centre.

Details

We are working to:

  • introduce a 30 kilimetre-an-hour speed limit in a high pedestrian zone
  • install raised crossings on Shore, Ford, Church and Queens streets
  • install a roundabout at the Ford Street and Ford Lane intersection
  • provide consistent two-hour on-street parking.

Benefits to the community:

  • improved pedestrian safety and slower vehicle speeds in the Moruya CBD
  • improved access and inclusion in Moruya as a navigable town for people of all ages and abilities.

The upgrade supports key actions from the Eurobodalla Road Safety Plan 2019-22 and helps ensure more inclusive access to businesses and facilities, making Moruya a better place to visit, shop and spend time.

We consulted with local businesses and the community which resulted in confirming additional upgrades (raised crossings on Church and Queen streets and consistent two-hour parking).

The Local Traffic Committee approved the proposal for the scheme at their meeting on 16 March 2022. Council subsequently endorsed the proposal at the ordinary Council meeting on 12 April 2022.
