Textiles mending circle - Batemans Bay

Monday 3 March 2025

2pm - 4pm

Where: Batemans Bay Library, Hanging Rock Place

Cost: free

Missing a button? Needing to stitch a hem or patch a hole? Run in partnership with Council’s sustainability team and local CWA branches, the mending circle will teach basic hand-sewing techniques so you can love your clothes for longer.

Australians are textile addicts. We are the world’s largest consumer of textiles per person and send over 6,000 kilograms of clothing and textile waste to landfill every 10 minutes. Let’s learn to love, mend, repurpose and take care of our clothing.

Please bring one or two items of clothing that need repair. Scissors, needles and a random selection of buttons and thread will be provided. If you require specific items such as particular buttons/thread, thimble or thread picker, please bring them along. We do encourage you to embrace the beauty of mismatch and visible mending.

Bookings are required
